Improving Engagement

I collaborated remotely with a cross-functional team in an agile environment to reorganize the workflow and improve the engagement of a key stakeholder group.

Challenge

The client, a platform for listing and mapping local businesses, was facing an engagement problem. All the business listings on the client’s platform had to be entered and verified by the client’s staff, which involved calling each business to verify the listing information. The client wanted to find a way to encourage businesses to maintain and update their own listings on the platform.

Proposal

To address this challenge, we proposed creating an option for businesses to update their own listings on the client’s platform. We also wanted to guide businesses through the process of confirming their current info or easily sending updates back to the client.

Strategy

To achieve this goal, we redesigned the user flow for updating listings, making two key changes:

  1. Introducing a feature that allows businesses to update their own listings via email.
  2. Creating a focused experience that directs businesses straight to their current listing information.
How I collaborated

This project was a cross-functional effort. I coordinated most closely with the UX Designer, Developers and Product Manager using Figma, GitHub and Slack.

Results

The project is still in development. We are currently conducting exploratory stakeholder interviews and prototype evaluation, and we expect to begin usability testing in early 2023.
